Dear Steve,

My Hercules Game Theater XP is also working perfectly
(meaning that I hear sound loud and clear) when MAD is
set at 24 bits (the card's chipset features a 20 bit
D/A converter). The issue is what the soundcard is
actually outputting: 16 bit, 20 (my card)or 24 bit
(your card)?

I mean that MAD surely outputs 24 bits, but are these
actually getting through the OS/drivers/hardware to
the D/A?

My humble opinion is that without *external*
measurement (bitscope, oscilloscope, 2nd PC with 24/96
card really working at 24 bits to record your output)
one cannot tell.
